Martina McBride opening the concert was a beautiful surprise. Underoath, as always, was gracious, fun, loud and presented a beautifully balanced setlist that rocked the house, then made us all quiet down and love who we were next to. Vicki and Bob, his backup singers, were on FIRE! And one detail I can't leave out is the set itself. Watch the pieces on the stage and the four support columns as they project images that accentuate the songs (Standing Outside the Fire - slow, glowing embers that grew into raging flames; Two Pina Coladas - beach and palm trees; The Thunder Rolls - big, building storm clouds). The band was amazing. And, although our seats were in what would traditionally be the "back" of the stage, the arrangement never made us feel like we missed a thing with great, big, clear screens and Underoath working all sides. Firstly, let me say I'm both a Chiefs fan AND a Underoath fan. And, as a special bonus, Underoath recognized each and every member of the band and crew who was from Kansas (since this show was in Kansas City). Sure, things back up, but not like this time. For those who came from out of town, I'm sorry! Our stadium folks must've lost their mind to not open EVERY stadium gate for a crowd of this size. Ok, ok, enough about the stuff we didn't like. And the concession prices? RIDICULOUS!!!! I've been to Arrowhead Stadium (now GEHA) countless times. And I have NEVER in my LIFE of living in Kansas City encountered a traffic and parking atrocity like we encountered Saturday. He's such a genuine, amazing artist and I love how he loves his band and crew family.
